Step 1 - Begin by clicking on the start button on the left side of the taskbar at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2 - In the box that pops up, click on Control Panel.
|

Step 3 - In the next box that appears, scroll down and click on Sounds and Audio Devices.
|
 |
|
Step 4 - The next box has 5 menu tabs at the top.
- Click on Voice.
- Then under Voice Recording, click on Test Hardware.

Step 5 - Now a testing wizard will appear. Click on Next.
|
 |
|
Step 6 - The wizard is now testing the sound hardware on your computer.

Step 7 - Speak into your microphone reading the paragraph show here.
- The green bar in the Recording Volume area will raise up and down with the tone of your voice.
- Click on Next.

Step 8 - On this page, as you speak you will hear your voice.
- The Playback Volume will be indicated by the green bar moving up and down.
- Click on Next.

Step 9 - As long as you heard your voice, your microphone is working properly. If not, check that you have installed it properly. To close the wizard, click on Finish.

Step 10 - Click on OK in this box to close it, and then close the Control Panel.
